Consumer Graduate Account Executive

Our consumer team has recently been named the 28th largest in the UK and is continuing to grow at an exceptional pace.  As a result, we have an opportunity for a (Graduate) Account Executive to join the ranks of our multi-award-winning team.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about PR, have outstanding writing skills, be highly organised, creative and a team player. We are looking for someone who is energetic, dynamic, proactive and keen to learn and grow within the agency.

The successful candidate will work across a number of high profile retail, hospitality, healthcare and food & drink accounts, supporting on media relations, press office activity and content marketing- working across a number of integrated campaigns.

Every day is different at WPR and the successful candidate will have ample on-the-job training, working alongside some of the UK’s leading communication professionals.

Job Description

  • Service a roster of high profile accounts, working directly with account directors and managers
  • Liaise with clients, acting as an extension of their team and nurturing a strong, professional relationship, built on trust
  • Draft a variety of copy, from press releases to blogs and email copy, as well as copy checking documents accurately
  • Sell-in client stories to national and regional journalists
  • Develop relationships with key influencers to secure client coverage
  • Help to create valuable, relevant and consistent content for clients, which helps to attract and retain a clearly defined audience
  • Create relevant and creative social media content plans
  • Understand the changing media agenda and have an ability to keep abreast of the media landscape
  • Identify news hooks and opportunities for all clients
  • Evaluate results across all clients and produce thorough analysis and reviews for clients, as well as identifying how we can make more of a difference
  • Support on new business pitches, helping with research and providing valuable insight to the team for new campaigns
  • Understand and be active on social media platforms, as well as being abreast of industry changes
  • Handle event organising and management
  • Responsible for workload and meeting deadlines

Key Competencies

Qualifications

  • Must be educated to degree standard
  • Will ideally hold a full, clean driving licence
  • Have 3-12 months PR or industry relevant experience

Abilities and Skills

The successful applicant will ideally have:-

  • Passion and enthusiasm in abundance and an understanding of PR, on and offline
  • A professional manner to work in an office environment and also working with clients at all levels
  • The ability to get under the skin of our clients’ businesses and industry, as well as the Birmingham PR landscape
  • A desire, passion to learn and drive to deliver meaningful results for all clients

Core Competencies

  • Excellent writing skills, with the ability to write accurately and creatively for a range of audiences
  • First class verbal communication skills
  • Capable of working flexibly, both on own initiative and as part of a wider team
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
