The Best Marketing Podcasts in 2025
As anyone working in PR and marketing will know, there are never enough hours in the day. So, it can be hard to find time to pause and think about the bigger picture, to step back from the ‘to do’ list and seek out inspiration or new ways to tackle a strategic or creative challenge.
While tailored CPD programmes, in-person training, industry conferences, networking with peers, and wider reading around topics are all important and valuable, they can be difficult to commit to when workloads are heavy. But there’s a wealth of accessible inspiration and information out there via podcasts.
Whether you’re starting your career in comms or you’re a seasoned pro, here is our round up of the best marketing podcasts.
1. WHEN IT HITS THE FAN
Hosted by David Yelland, former editor of the Sun, and Simon Lewis, who has more than his fair share of high profile media experience working for everyone from Queen Elizabeth II to Gordon Brown, When It Hits The Fan is an entertaining dive into the world of crisis managers, spin doctors and PRs. Brilliantly topical – they always find an interesting take on the latest news stories – the episodes have space to delve into what’s going on behind the story and offer a pleasing blend of irreverence and genuinely expert comms commentary. For anyone interested in the news, and what does (and doesn’t) make headlines, this podcast will offer fascinating insight.
2. THE MARKETING MEETUP PODCAST
Made by marketers, for marketers, the Marketing Meetup blends fun chat with useful information as host Joe Glover explores current marketing topics and trends with industry leaders. With career stories and case studies from influential figures and household name brands, plus lots of practical advice and tips, discussions range from how AI is changing SEO to brand building and public speaking. With over 300 episodes in the archive, there’s plenty of content to explore.
3. NUDGE
Hosted by Phill Agnew, Nudge looks at the hidden consumer psychology behind what people do and why they do it. There’s solid behavioural science in here but delivered in an engaging, fun way. And the lessons are remarkably applicable to all manner of marketers. Whether you’re listening to ‘surprisingly effective ways to persuade (almost) anyone’ or learning how ‘social proof’ can significantly increase sales, you’ll take away valuable nuggets to apply to your own marketing challenges. It is also currently the UK’s #1 marketing podcast, no doubt thanks to its ability to hit the sweet spot of ‘edutainment’.
4. THE CIM MARKETING PODCAST
For anyone focused on career development and staying ahead of the marketing curve, the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s (CIM) marketing podcast is a good place to start. Aiming to help marketers elevate their marketing game, it is full of useful discussion on the latest issues – from AI to influencer marketing – with an emphasis on actionable approaches, best practice and expert opinion.
5. UNCENSORED CMO
The premise behind this podcast is instantly engaging. Host Jon Evans sets out to get to know what CMOs really think (people whose role means they’re usually carefully managing the messages they put out into the world), how they got where they are, and what shaped and influenced their careers. Whether you’re already there, or it’s the role you’re aspiring to, the Uncensored CMO lets you hear directly from senior people working in marketing roles both brand and agency side. There’s a mix of US and UK content and the combination of current issues plus high-profile guests makes it a great listen.
6. BEYOND THE NOISE
The PRWeek podcast, Beyond the Noise, welcomes a panel of industry experts each week to talk about the hot topics in public relations and communications, with primarily a UK focus. From how to handle crisis communications around a cyberattack and what’s changing in ESG comms, to PR stunts and why social diversity is important for PR agencies (which we covered in an episode where I joined the panel to discuss the pros of running a PR agency outside London), it offers a great grounding for anyone new to the PR industry, plus the chance to hear directly from people working in the industry day-in-day-out.
So, there you have it – our suggestions for some enjoyable (and educational) listening to spark creative thinking, offer guidance, and help you see the bigger picture. And if you’re thinking of launching a podcast for your own brand, and would like some advice about how where to start, this is something we’ve done for a number of clients so feel free to drop us a note – we’d love to help.
