Volvo Moves Into Pole Position With Appointment of WPR

Premium car manufacturer, Volvo Car UK, has appointed Midlands agency, WPR, to handle its regional media communications following a five-way pitch earlier this year.

WPR, the Midlands’ largest PR agency by revenue, will be tasked with creating and tailoring content, and securing local and regional media coverage to drive consumers to Volvo’s 100-strong UK retailer network.

WPR will also deliver creative campaigns to ensure maximum media attention for Volvo’s retailers.

Jane Ainsworth, managing director at WPR, said: “Volvo is one of the UK’s biggest names in the automotive sector, and we’re excited to bolster its presence among current and new audiences alike.

“Our skills and expertise within the retail sector have been a real boon. Having worked with the likes of Oxfam, Beaverbrooks, Redrow, Tesco and Dunelm, we are well placed to deploy our retail experience to drive footfall to Volvo’s wide retailer network.”

Commenting on the appointment, Mike Gale, head of PR at Volvo Car UK, said: “We sought an agency that specialised in the retail market to find a new approach to our retailer PR. WPR’s extensive experience and unique approach to content creation made it the perfect choice to drive forward our campaign to get people into Volvo retailers.”

The announcement of WPR’s appointment by Volvo follows the agency being awarded five PRCA DARE awards earlier this year, while also being shortlisted for a further 11 categories at the upcoming CIPR Midlands PRide Awards.
