WPR Moves to Renewable Energy
In the latest step on the road to achieving net zero by 2028, Birmingham based PR agency WPR has installed solar panels at its Edgbaston office.
The 31kw solar panel PV system will provide the business with an estimated 26,500kw/hrs of electricity each year. This should offset 68% of WPR’s energy usage, saving seven tonnes of carbon dioxide a year.
Don Skoyles, director of finance and operations, said: “We’ve been taking a proactive approach to reducing our carbon footprint over recent years and installing solar panels, so that we can use renewable energy, is a significant part of our long-term commitment to achieving net zero.
“We certainly picked a good time to do it, with the installation coinciding with wall-to-wall sunshine and the official start of summer. I’m already addicted to checking how much energy we’re generating every day!”
WPR, which became a certified B corporation™ in 2024, has made a series of ESG commitments designed to reduce its negative impact on the planet.
Already a carbon and plastic neutral workplace, WPR has taken action including improving insulation at its Grade II listed office building, installing a 60% more efficient heating system, launching incentives to reduce commuting by car, introducing multi-layered plastic recycling, and overhauling its outside space to make the business a greener place to work.
