Greene King: Inn-timate Weddings

The Challenge

To highlight what makes Greene King Inns distinctive, driving awareness of the pubs’ venues and function spaces.

In particular, WPR was tasked with raising the profile of Greene King’s wedding packages.


The Idea

Knowing the wedding industry had experienced significant disruption during the pandemic, we commissioned research to uncover couples’ priorities for their post-pandemic wedding planning.

Exploring changes in attitudes, we found many couples were opting for smaller scale, more intimate events despite restrictions lifting. We linked the desire to be surrounded by just their nearest and dearest to the suitability of cosier venues such as pubs and inns.

A national PR campaign led with the research insights and incorporated the messaging that Greene King Inns offer plenty of places to tie the knot.

The topical story and idea of getting hitched in your local captured interest and we quickly secured:

  • 13 pieces of national coverage, including in The Sun, Daily Express and Daily Mirror
  • Four bridal press hits

More than half (52%) of coverage included details of Greene King Inns’ wedding packages.
